College is definitely overrated. All my life people have been telling me, "oh you'll love college!" or "It's so much better than high school. You'll really find your niche there." But no. College is not all it's trumped up to be. Sure, it has its benefits, like being able to do whatever you want to without getting in trouble (well... within reason...), and not having your parents hovering over you all the time, and getting away from all those annoying kids in high school. But there are annoying kids in college too. Yes, it seems that there are just as many immature people in higher education. Aaaand the classes are harder, but not generally more interesting. And the food is not that great either. I mean, you would think with the $10,000 tuition we pay they could give us edible food... And then there are roommates. You get all excited about moving in, and meeting your roomie and all that. But your roommate is just as annoying (often even more so) than your little sister, and you have neither built up immunity to her, nor harbor any real affection to soften the impact her oddities. Then there's the fact that there's nothing to do. Where are all those wild parties everyone's always talking about? Of course, I do attend what is probably the smallest college on the planet, but still, you'd think there would be more going on than so-and-so's cousin's best friend's band playing in the local pub, or the state anime club symposium. jeez. nerds.
So now you understand why college is overrated. Stay in tune for future blogs, including "Being a mature adult sucks" (you have to buy your own toilet paper), "why being a grandparent is really overrated" (you're expected to buy all the most expensive stuff for them, and they don't really care) , and "why Death is not so bad..."
